Trent University, one of Canada’s top schools, was founded on the principals of transformative learning; an interactive method that is personal and purposeful. With national recognition for their leadership in teaching, research and student satisfaction, Trent attracts students from across the country and around the world.
Sovereign State has been working closely with Trent University to develop their 2015/16 Student recruitment campaign. Leveraging the University’s mission statement “Challenge the way you think.“, our approach applied brand system design thinking to traditional advertising enabling the campaign to exist within a multitude of creative variations both online and offline.
OUAC’s report on data from the application deadline of January 13, 2016 showed total applications to Trent University have grown by 16.6% compared to January 2015, the largest percentage increase among Ontario universities
The system is based on a library of elements that when used together, delivers a benefit-driven student or faculty journey that communicates several key brand messages.

Using custom photography, illustration, Trent based graphics, and campaign developed copy, we developed ownable creative that is distinctive both visually and in tone.
Admissions Welcome Package
“Trent also led the province’s universities for percentage increase of 17.3% in applications from high school students against a system average of 1.5%. High school applicants selecting Trent University as their first choice grew by 7.4%.”
With a multitude of creative iterations possible, coupled with a highly targeted online media buy, the Fall 2016 applications achieved the highest percentage increase for a single year.
